Oxford the fascinating University City is only 9 miles away and Blenheim Palace, 10 miles, is the fabulous home of the Churchill Family and makes a great day out. The beautiful River Thames is only 4 miles away, and is great for boating, walking and picnics. The Cotswold Wildlife Park close to Burford is ever popular with families whilst the recently extended Bicester Village, 19 miles, is an increasingly popular destination for designer shopping. The famous Roman Villa at Chedworth is certainly worth a visit.

Close by is the well-known Aston Pottery & Trading Company, 3 miles, and the extensive Burford Garden Company, 4 miles. Other fascinating nearby Cotswold destinations include the stunning small towns of Bampton, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury and Stow on the Wold. Witney the historic market town makes an ideal centre for local shopping. Cirencester, Cheltenham, Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon are all an easy drive away.

 

Sporting Activities

A footpath crosses a corner of the estate giving access to miles of Beautiful Country Walks and, for cyclists bringing their own bikes, the relatively easy local terrain makes Family Bike Rides a must. There are numerous local lakes and rivers for Excellent Fishing.

 

Witney Lakes Resort, 2 miles, offers a wide range of sporting activities. We have exclusive Privilege Guest status there allowing our guests to enjoy all the facilities of the resort at discounted rates. These include the fabulous Health Club with its indoor heated pool, hot tub, gym, sauna, steam-room and group fitness centre, the Golf Club which has an 18 hole, par 71, 6500 yard course and the Retreat Spa which offers a range of beauty, facial, manicures, pedicures, and body treatments. The resort also has an excellent on-site restaurant, bistro and sports bar.

 

The Windrush Leisure Centre (2 miles) has superb swimming and sports facilities for families. The Oxford Sailing Club at Farmoor Reservoir, 8 miles, is an RYA certified centre and offers a wide range of dinghy, windsurfing and powerboat courses. Hardwick Parks Watersports Centre, 3 miles, offers jet-skiing, water-skiing, windsurfing and swimming.

 

The Clay Shooting Company can provide Clay Pigeon Shooting, Simulated Game Days and Corporate Activity Days at their nearby centres or, by arrangement, these can be held on our estate. The estate is a convenient base for attending race meetings at the Cheltenham Racecourse which include the world renowned Cheltenham Festival. Local trail hunting and Point to Point horse racing are provided by The Old Berkshire Hunt.
